Getting Around The “Strip” By Bus

Because of their convenience plus the fact that they are readily available, buses (like taxis) are a very popular method for getting around Las Vegas. In 2009, the name of the bus system in the Las Vegas metropolitan area changed to the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC). Although buses run throughout Las Vegas metropolitan area this posting will focus on the buses that run on the “Strip”. double decker buses known as  the Deuce. The Deuce (http://www.rtcsouthernnevada.com/transit/route/deuce/deuce(3-28-10).pdf) runs between Mandalay Bay at the southern end of the Strip to the Downtown Transportation Center (DTC) near Fromont Street and the Fremont Street Experience, with stops near every casino. RTC also operates an express bus called the ACE Gold Line (http://www.rtcsouthernnevada.com/transit/route/acegold/acegold(3-28-10).pdf). This route connects the Strip to the Las Vegas Convention Center and downtown Las Vegas with stops at selected hotels and shopping attractions. Regular Fares (from http://www.rtcsouthernnevada.com/transit/fare_passes.cfm) for Premium Service (which includes ACE, AceExpress and the Deuce on the Strip) are:

2 Hr. All Acess Pass $3
24 Hr. All Acess Pass (24 hours from time of purchase)   $7
3 Day All Acess Pass $15
5 Day All Acess Pass $20
30 Day All Acess Pass $65

Reduced Fares may be available. Tickets can purchased at Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) at the Downtown Transporation Center (DTC) and at various locations along the route. 3, 5 and 30 day passes can be purchased by mailor online at http://www.rtcsouthernnevada.com/transit/fare_passes.cfm. Passes(Tickets) purchased online or by mail can bevalidated at a TVM or on a vehicle.Complete information about the RTC bus system can be found on the official website http://www.rtcsouthernnevada.com/.
