The Best Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas
Wednesday September 15, 2010 by admin.
Continuing yesterday’s Las Vegas wedding theme. Although a Las Vegas wedding (there are about 400 of them every day in Las Vegas) can be set up to satisfy every need, budget and denomination (if you supply your own officiate they must be licensed in the state of Nevada), what if you want to find the best place to have a wedding performed? Out of the over 60 wedding chapels available, “The Chapel of the Flowers” (click on the name for more info) is considered to be the best. It was voted “The Best Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas 2010” by the Las Vegas Review Journal Poll and I find no reason to disagree. If you click on “PLAN YOUR PERFECT WEDDING” on their web site, you will find wedding ceremonies ranging in price from $195 to $10,000. If you can’t find a wedding ceremony you like than you probably don’t want to get married. To find out how to obtain a marriage license, go to http://www.accessclarkcounty.com/depts/clerk/Pages/marriage_information.aspx. You can also use “Google” or “Bing” to do more research about Las Vegas wedding chapels, getting married in Las Vegas or anything else your interested in.

The Cheapest Las Vegas Wedding
Tuesday September 14, 2010 by admin.
Among other things, Las Vegas is famous for it’s weddings. You can get married on a pirate ship or on the floor of the Grand Canyon, by an Elvis impersonator, mobster-style, or lakeside with a few hundred of your closest friends. A Las Vegas wedding can be set up to satisfy every need, budget and denomination (if you supply your own officiate they must be licensed in the state of Nevada). With over 60 wedding chapels to choose from and around 400 wedding ceremonies performed every day, what is the cheapest way to get married in Las Vegas? Well that’s easy to answer, it’s a civil ceremony. You can get married for as little as $50 (not counting the license fee) and you can even use a credit card (but that will cost you $5.00 more) to pay for it and you can get married from 8 am to 10 pm (Fri. & Sat. only after September 15th when other hours will apply for Sun. thru Thurs.). Go to the Office of Civil Marriages website at http://www.accessclarkcounty.com/depts/clerk/Pages/civil_marriage.aspx for more information. To find out about the Clark County Marriage Bureau and how to obtain a marriage license, go to http://www.accessclarkcounty.com/depts/clerk/Pages/marriage_information.aspx. It’s just as legal and with a room occupancy of 19 people, it can be a lot of fun.
You can also use “Google” or “Bing” to do more research about getting married in Las Vegas or anything else your interested in.

Recent Las Vegas News
Monday September 13, 2010 by admin.
Here’s some of the Las Vegas news that was reported during the last week:
Sept. 11, 2010 Sheryl Crow’s show at The Joint at Hard Rock was postponed due to illness. The new show date will be announced soon. September 11 show tickets will be valid for the rescheduled date. Ticket holders should hold on to their tickets or get refunds which can be requested at the point of purchase.
Sept. 10, 2010 It’s been announced that the Liberace Museum on E. Tropicana dedicated to the flamboyant singer’s life is to close October 17th after being open 31 years, the latest victim of the economic downturn that’s hit Las Vegas tourism hard. The Liberace Foundation will continue to keep the showman’s legacy alive, and the memorabilia from the museum is scheduled to be transformed into a touring exhibit.
Sept. 9, 2010 Although not specific to Las Vegas, the European Union (EU) reacted today to a $14 tax for travelers that started yesterday. Click here to find out more.
Sept. 8, 2010 “Mr Lucky’s”, the 24/7 restaurant and coffee shop at the Hard Rock which is famous for it’s off-menu $7.77 (steak, shrimp and salad) “Gambler’s Special”, was picked by Yahoo Travel as one of the Best 24 Hour Hot Spots in the U.S. This comes to no surprise to me because I’ve been enjoying the “Gambler’s Special” for a long time even though I am not much of a gambler. Remember to ask for it since it’s not on the menu the next time your at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Congratulations are in order for “Tao” the ultra-hip club at the Venetian. It’s been named the #1 Top Club in the U.S. by Club Planet.
Sept. 7, 2010 The “$200K Curiously Strange Slot Tournament” is underway at the Palms. It features performances on the hour from members of Jim Rose’s crew of circus freaks and sideshow performers in the Key West Ballroom. Every day through Oct 2, Club Palms members will have the chance to participate in the tournament, which will be held daily from 9 am –10 pm, with 120 winners each week walking away with a share of $50,000 in free slot play, plus other perks for high scores.
Sept. 6, 2010 Lance Burton has concluded his 14-year run at the Monte Carlo. On September 8th it was announced that the hip-hop dance crew Jabbawockeez will replace Burton beginning in October.

The Best Race & Sports Books in Las Vegas
Saturday September 11, 2010 by admin.
If your into or thinking of getting into betting on races and sporting events then Nevada (and Las Vegas) is the best place to be because Nevada is the only state with licensed sports books (all of which are in casinos). But where can you find the best combination of comfort, information and entertainment while you watch your wagers? According to the readers of Casino Player: Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas Hilton and the Mirage have the best race and sports books on the Las Vegas Strip, Sam’s Town, the Rio and the Orleans have the best race and sports books for locals and the Golden Nugget, the Plaza and Binion’s have the best race and sports books downtown. If your going to wager on races and/or sporting events, why not do it at one of the great race and sports books listed above? Remember to use common sense and set limits when your gambling. If it stops being fun then stop.

The Best Pools in Las Vegas
Friday September 10, 2010 by admin.
Although the main pool season is over, most Las Vegas pools are usually open until around the end of October so I thought that I would add to the 4 postings I made in late June about Las Vegas pools. According to the readers of Casino Player, the best pools at Las Vegas hotels are: On the Las Vegas Strip: #1 Caesars Palace, #2 Mandalay Bay and #3 Flamingo In downtown Las Vegas: #1 Golden Nugget For Las Vegas locals: #1 M Resort #2 Hard Rock and # 3 Red Rock
Although there are many other good to great pools in Las Vegas, it’s difficult for me to disagree with the above ratings. I hope someone will find this information useful when choosing where to stay the next time your in Las Vegas.

Craps
Wednesday September 8, 2010 by admin.
If you’ve ever been in a casino and saw or heard a lot of activity around a gaming table then you’ve probably found a craps table. Craps can generate a lot of excitement when someone is on a roll. If you’d like to learn to play craps or just improve your current game, you can buy and read one of the numerous available books or search the internet. Although craps is a relatively easy to learn and player friendly game with a low house edge, it’s based strictly on odds and knowing what your doing is the best way to improve your odds of winning or at least limiting your losses. Most strategies overstate their ability to help you win so beware! Out of the over 216,000 results on Google for the keyword “craps strategy”, three of the best sources of info on how to play Craps are: http://wizardofodds.com/craps, http://www.acehoyle.com/greenhorn-casino-games-guide/craps/strategy and http://www.casinocenter.com/?p=458. Losing can be costly in many ways. Study, learn and hopefully win but always set a limit. Gambling should be fun, if it isn’t then stop.
By the way, in case your interested, the readers of Casino Player voted Caesar’s Palace, Bellagio and Harrah’s as the best places to play craps on the Las Vegas Strip. The Hard Rock, Sam’s Town and the Rio were voted as the best places for locals to play craps and Binion’s, Main Street Station and the Golden Nugget were voted as the best places to play craps downtown.

Tuesday September 7, 2010 by admin.
For those who want the best available accommodations, the best rooms and suites on the Las Vegas Strip as voted by the readers of Casino Player are: #1 Venetian #2 Wynn Las Vegas and #3 Bellagio. Although there are several great hotels on Las Vegas Strip with great rooms and suites, I hope someone will find this information useful when choosing where to stay the next time your in Las Vegas. It will be interesting to see if any or all of the new 5 star hotels (Aria, Vdara and the expected to be rated 5 star Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas (which opens on December 15th)) will show up in next year’s ratings.

Happy Labor Day! Here’s some of the Las Vegas news that was reported during the last week:
Sept. 5, 2010 All Station and Fiesta casinos have a good low-level comp deal, good Sundays through Thursdays in September. Earn 100 Boarding Pass points in a day and get a free breakfast or lunch buffet, or earn 200 for a free brunch or dinner buffet. You keep the points. Depending on the games you play, that’s just $100-$400 coin-in which is a very low qualifying requirement.
Sept. 4, 2010 Upwards of 290,000 visitors are expected to come to Las Vegas this Labor Day weekend which is a a 2.8% increase over last year. Revenues, however, are expected to be lower in most areas which is a continuation of the overall theme for the past several months: More people, less spending.
Sept. 3, 2010 On Thursday, Sept. 9, the Nevada Restaurant Association (NvRA) and The Palazzo host the Las Vegas Epicurean Affair, with poolside samples of cuisine and cocktails from nearly 75 restaurants and beverage purveyors. The event takes place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and General Admission tickets are $100 each, available at the Venetian and Palazzo box office on 702/414-9000.
Sept. 2, 2010 The Las Vegas Hilton issued a statement saying that the troubled heiress, who’s experiencing much negative fallout from her recent alleged cocaine-possession bust at Wynn Las Vegas, remains welcome at her namesake hotel, although it’s no longer owned by the Hilton family.
Sept. 1, 2010 The Lopez vs Marquez fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, due to take place Sept. 18, has been rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 6.
August 31, 2010 The Wynn Las Vegas is in the process of completely renovating all its guest rooms and suites, a program that’s due to continue through early 2011.
10 cars that belonged to the late Danny Gans will be part of Barrett-Jackson’s Las Vegas Collector Car Auction, which takes place in Las Vegas Sept. 23-25. Included in the sale will be Gans’ 1932 Ford 3-window coupe, a 1955 Chevrolet Cameo pickup, and a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda coupe.
August 30, 2010 The Tropicana debuted its new steak and seafood restaurant, Biscayne Steak, Sea & Wine, part of Phase 1 of the property’s $165 million remodel and new South Beach “re-theming.”
The Las Vegas Riviera, under its parent company’s bankruptcy reorganization plan, will reverse the current policy of conserving cash and will invest a significant sum in maintenance upgrades, including exterior paint, select window treatments, elevator upgrades, and exterior and interior signage improvements.
