Rita Rudner On The Move

It’s been reported that Rita Rudner, following extended runs at New York New York and Harrah’s where she’s been headlining in Las Vegas for a decade, will be on the move once more in January for a new six-month stint at the 5 star rated Venetian. After that, she will reportedly be moving to California to pursue other projects. Rita’s last show at Harrah’s is scheduled to be January 1, 2011. She’s supposed to open at the Venetian on January 12th. Rita was picked the Las Vegas Review Journal Readers’ 2009 and 2010 “Favorite Female Las Vegan” and the 2009 “Best Comedian”. Her highly rated show shouldn’t be missed so I suggest you see her in Vegas while you can. Enjoy!

Recent Las Vegas News

Here’s some of the news Las Vegas that came out during the last week:

Nov. 28, 2010  Having sold only 27 of 275 units, downtown’s Streamline Towers is changing its approach and switching from a condominium complex to apartments. Streamline’s rents will run from $1,000 to $2,400 and will change it’s name to Ogden. Loft 5 and One Las Vegas, two other former condo towers owned by the same company, will also switch to rental.

Nov. 27, 2010  An addition to the first Nov. 24 news listing: Even with the expected 3.4% visitor increase over last year, the room occupancy rate is still only 84% which a far cry from the days when holiday weekends hit percentages in the high 90s. The Las Vegas room count is currently quoted at 146,689. Maybe they should stop adding hotel rooms. What do you think?

Nov. 26, 2010 The Pussycat Dolls burlesque lounge that closed last February at Caesars Palace will reopen in a new nightclub at Planet Hollywood called the Gallery which occupies the space that was formerly Prive.

An unidentified man fell from the 19th floor of the Palms and landed on the third floor roof yesterday morning in what Las Vegas police called a suicide. He was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Nov. 25, 2010  Thanksgiving – Hope everyone had a great one.

Nov. 24, 2010  The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is anticipating 270,000 visitors to the Las Vegas area this week, which would be 3.4 percent increase from last year.

Here’s your chance to own a piece of the Las Vegas Strip. The current home of the Diamond Inn Hotel, which is a 1.36 acre plot, is going to be sold via a sealed-bid auction. The land has 236 feet of frontage on Las Vegas Boulevard and has been approved for buildable heights of 406 feet to 505 feet. Bids must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec.13th.

Nov. 23, 2010   It’s been reported that Sunset Station is suing the city of Henderson over the city’s approval of the Roadhouse Casino’s unrestricted gaming license. The Roadhouse Casino has been closed for years, but opens once annually to maintain its license, which was granted before subsequent state legislation that requires a property with a unrestricted gaming license to operate a hotel, too.

What I posted earlier about what was going to happen Harrah’s Entertainment’s name has been made official. Harrah’s Entertainment has officially been changed its name to Caesars Entertainment.

Nov. 22, 2010   In an article from MailOnline.co.uk in the UK, Las Vegas’ McCarran airport has been rated among the world’s top 10 most stunning aerial approaches. Read more by clicking on the above link.
