Located about 17 miles west of Las Vegas, [1] Red Rock Canyon offers the visitor to Las Vegas a chance to get out of town and see (and hike if you want to) a great example of a beautiful natural area with wild horses, burros and other wildlife plus varied plants and geology. Red Rock Canyon features a one-way 13-mile scenic drive (open dawn to dusk) and a Visitor Center (8 am to 4:30 pm) that offers information about recreation opportunities, wildlife, vegetation, geology, cultural resources and more.
