Take Care On The Roads

The Las Vegas Metro Police is urging drivers and pedestrians to take care on the roads. There has been at least19 traffic related deaths in Las Vegas already this year which is more than double the number at this point last year. On Saturday February 18th alone, five fatalities occurred in three separate accidents, including three teenagers. The escalation in traffic accidents seems to be coinciding with the Las Vegas Metro Police’s enforcement of the new ban on handheld devices which took effect on January 1st of this year. So far, more than 1,000 citations have been issued to drivers in southern Nevada caught violating the ban.

Winning Percentages for Slots

The following is the most recent information for the winning percentages for slot machines that I have found. It gives general information on what the winning percentages for slots machines in various denominations as well as areas in and around Las Vegas Nevada. Although it doesn’t give information on specific casinos and slot machines, it can be useful to slot machine players who might want to know what area and/or denomination they should play or whether maybe they should switch to another form of gambling to improve their odds of winning. I will probably update this information as data becomes available because so many people who visit Las Vegas do at least some playing on slot machines and it can be useful to know this stuff.

Keep in mind that some of the above winning percentages are based on very few lot machines being tested and are therefore questionable. I personally think that gambling with more money then you can afford to lose is a very bad idea and have found that playing a higher denomination slot machine with fewer coins in can sometimes improve your chances to win and can actually cost less to play. Everyone needs to make up their own minds and take responsibility for their own actions.

Hidden Hotel Charges Can Add Up

Hidden charges (or so called stealth or resort fees) are often added on to many Las Vegas hotel rooms. They can be quite substantial and are often buried in the small print of receipts. Also, they are frequently overlooked or considered to be the same for all rooms. The truth is is that they are not charged equally (or at all) by all hotels and many properties have quietly upped their fees in the last few months, so watch out!. For example, the Orleans’ nightly charge is now up from $5 to $6, Hooters has increased to $9.95 from $7.50, Wynn/Encore upped their resort fee by $5 to $25/night, as has MGM Grand, while the Monte Carlo’s up almost $6 to $22.40 (previously $16.80) and New York-New York is up a whopping $11 from $16.80 to $28. These charges may come with advantages like access to a ‘health club” so it’s a good idea to know what you are paying for if anything. The only major Las Vegas hotel group that does charge resort fees that I know of is the Caesars Entertainment group of hotels. It is a good idea to keep these charges, if any, in mind when comparing room rates if price is one of your concerns. It all comes down to what you want and what are you willing to pay for it.

Fremont Street Experience Online Coupons

Anyone who have been reading this blog for awhile should know that the Fremont Street Experience (FSE) is one of the free Las Vegas attractions that I like personally best and that I strongly recommend that everyone visiting Las Vegas should go see. Located in downtown Las Vegas on Fremont Street, FSE runs about 4 blocks from 4th Street (which is one block west of Las Vegas Blvd.) to Main Street. Now you can get coupons online for things like food (including a free burger), $1 draft beer and a free photo at places that are along the edges of FSE. Most coupons are good through March 31, 2012 and they can be found at www.VegasExperience.com/coupons (using  your email address as the Username and “RealVegas” as the Password). Once you get to the coupon web page, you can download and print the coupons.
