2012 World Series of Poker Changing

Although it has mostly very big buy-ins that make it difficult or impossible for most people to participant, hopefully someone out there will be interested to know that the organizers of the 2012 World Series of Poker (which kicks off at the Rio later this month on May 27th) are introducing some changes to this year’s event. Among the innovations will be the overturning of the rule that for the past five years has prevented players from discussing their cards and from celebrating a hand. Both will now be acceptable, within reason and at the discretion of the tournament directors, in an attempt to rekindle the energy that was felt to be lacking at last year’s more subdued event. Also, several new bracelet events will be introduced including an ante-only no-limit hold’em tournament for the first time ever. The buy-in is $1,500 for the event which will take place on June 27th and it will feature no blinds.

Forum Shops At Caesars 20th Anniversary

The Forum Shops at Caesars which is the most successful shopping venue in the United States, is Las Vegas’ premier retail, dining and entertainment destination, featuring more than 160 boutiques and shops as well as 13 restaurants and specialty food shops. It is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, while the Las Vegas News Bureau celebrates its 65th anniversary. To mark these occasions, the two have joined forces to present a photo-history of the Forum Shops, presented in three phases near the Fountain of the Gods; close to the Atlantis show and Aquarium; and on the second level, near the windows across from the spiral escalator. The three phases of the exhibit showcase the different eras and changes that have taken place since the high-end mall debuted in 1992. I recommend that everyone who visits Las Vegas check the Forum Shops out at least once.

Parking Lot At Las Vegas Sign To Expand

Okay so this posting like many others might not be very important to most people but if you’ve ever tried or ever want to try to get a photo of the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign or if you just want know as much about Las Vegas as possible, you might find this posting interesting.

The 10 space parking lot at the famous and very popular “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada” sign has become so crowded at times that Clark County will spend $500,000 to add 20 more spaces. The 53-year-old sign, which is on the median of Las Vegas Boulevard South just south of Mandalay Bay, is ground zero for tourists who flock to the Las Vegas icon to have their picture taken. Dodging traffic to get to the sign became a dangerous endeavor, so the county built the parking lot to provide better access. But the line for photos is still long, and Denis Cederburg, the county public works director, said more parking spaces are needed. No completion date has been given but since it’s a safety issue and I’ve had difficult getting photos of the sign myself in the past, I hope it’s completed soon.

Winning Percentages For Vegas Slots 12/11

The following is the most recent information for the winning percentages for slot machines that I have found. It gives general information on what the winning percentages for slots machines in various denominations as well as areas in and around Las Vegas Nevada. Although it doesn’t give information on specific casinos and slot machines, it can be useful to slot machine players who might want to know what area and/or denomination they should play or whether maybe they should switch to another form of gambling to improve their odds of winning. I will probably update this information as data becomes available because so many people who visit Las Vegas do at least some playing on slot machines and it can be useful to know this stuff.

Winning Percentages by slot machine denomination from the Nevada Gaming Control Board for Dec. 2011

Balance of County: These casinos are not on the Las Vegas or Boulder Strip or in Downtown and they include the properties in Primm, and those other casinos scattered across the valley, such as Arizona Charlie’s and the Orleans.

Keep in mind that some of the above winning percentages are based on very few lot machines being tested and are therefore questionable. I personally think that gambling with more money then you can afford to lose is a very bad idea and have found that playing a higher denomination slot machine with fewer coins in can sometimes improve your chances to win and can actually cost less to play. Everyone needs to make up their own minds and take responsibility for their own actions.
