Don’t know what to do this New Year’s Eve? Although hotel reservations and air + hotel packages aren’t cheap, New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas is a world class celebration and event which you should see at least once in your life. The Strip closes to traffic, fills with revelers and fireworks light up the sky.

Many if not most casinos are filled to capacity. There are also many great parties if fireworks aren’t your thing  (click on –> http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/specialevents/parties.cfm?setype=New%20Year%27s&atype=Parties for a current list of parties (subject to change)). Give it some thought and enjoy it if you decide to go.

Update:  Details of this year’s "America’s Party" Strip 8 minute fireworks display was announced on 12/17/2010. The firing locations will include MGM Grand, Aria, Planet Hollywood, Caesars Palace, TI, The Venetian, and Stratosphere.

With December’s temperatures of average highs of 57 and average lows of 34 plus with no pools open (which can be a major negative for many), this time of year might not seem like a great time of year to visit Las Vegas. Las Vegas does however have the same gambling, shopping and people watching (although there’s generally fewer people (except for New Years) this time of year. There are also many Christmas events (concerts, displays, parties, etc.) many of which are family friendly which when coupled with generally low hotel rates (except for New Years when they usually skyrocket) actually make this a very good time to visit Las Vegas for many people.
