The 5 Most Dangerous Intersections
Thursday March 29, 2012 by admin.
Once in a while I come across an article that I find of value and that I think that it might be of interest or of value to someone else. Such was the case recently when I came across an article that should be of interest to any who drives in Las Vegas. It’s called “The five most dangerous intersections in Las Vegas”. The full article can be found at http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/mar/16/top-five-dangerous-intersections-las-vegas/. The intersection at Lamb and Charleston boulevards was the most dangerous intersection in Las Vegas with Tropicana Avenue with 2 locations near the Las Vegas Strip and 2 Sahara Avenue intersections filling out the top 5. For more information including a map showing all the top 5 most dangerous intersections, click on the above link.

Winning Percentages for Slots
Friday February 24, 2012 by admin.
The following is the most recent information for the winning percentages for slot machines that I have found. It gives general information on what the winning percentages for slots machines in various denominations as well as areas in and around Las Vegas Nevada. Although it doesn’t give information on specific casinos and slot machines, it can be useful to slot machine players who might want to know what area and/or denomination they should play or whether maybe they should switch to another form of gambling to improve their odds of winning. I will probably update this information as data becomes available because so many people who visit Las Vegas do at least some playing on slot machines and it can be useful to know this stuff.
Winning Percentages by slot machine denomination from the Nevada Gaming Control Board for Oct. 2011
North Las Vegas: Includes such casinos as the Fiesta, Texas Station, Jerry’s Nugget and the Santa Fe.
Boulder Strip: Principal casinos in this area are Boulder Station, and Sam’s Town
Balance of County: These casinos are not on the Las Vegas or Boulder Strip or in Downtown and they include the properties in Primm, and those other casinos scattered across the valley, such as Arizona Charlie’s and the Orleans.

Keep in mind that some of the above winning percentages are based on very few lot machines being tested and are therefore questionable. I personally think that gambling with more money then you can afford to lose is a very bad idea and have found that playing a higher denomination slot machine with fewer coins in can sometimes improve your chances to win and can actually cost less to play. Everyone needs to make up their own minds and take responsibility for their own actions.

Hidden Hotel Charges Can Add Up
Thursday February 23, 2012 by admin.
Hidden charges (or so called stealth or resort fees) are often added on to many Las Vegas hotel rooms. They can be quite substantial and are often buried in the small print of receipts. Also, they are frequently overlooked or considered to be the same for all rooms. The truth is is that they are not charged equally (or at all) by all hotels and many properties have quietly upped their fees in the last few months, so watch out!. For example, the Orleans’ nightly charge is now up from $5 to $6, Hooters has increased to $9.95 from $7.50, Wynn/Encore upped their resort fee by $5 to $25/night, as has MGM Grand, while the Monte Carlo’s up almost $6 to $22.40 (previously $16.80) and New York-New York is up a whopping $11 from $16.80 to $28. These charges may come with advantages like access to a ‘health club” so it’s a good idea to know what you are paying for if anything. The only major Las Vegas hotel group that does charge resort fees that I know of is the Caesars Entertainment group of hotels. It is a good idea to keep these charges, if any, in mind when comparing room rates if price is one of your concerns. It all comes down to what you want and what are you willing to pay for it.

Thursday February 16, 2012 by admin.
Las Vegas area locals and visitors who are looking for fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and other types of food including honey, eggs, nuts, dates and locally roasted coffee should know about the cash only “Bet on the Farm” Farmer’s Market that is located at The Springs Preserve, 333 South Valley View Boulevard Las Vegas, NV 89107 and that takes place every Thursday from 10:00am - 1:00pm. The selection of products available at this farmer’s market is limited to what’s in season and what’s locally grown in the Las Vegas area or trucked in from southern California. “Bet on the Farm” is a sustainable farmer’s market that is run by Chefs Mario Batali & Joe Bastianich and the B&B Hospitality Group. The Clark County Government
Tuesday January 10, 2012 by admin.
Covering an area the size of New Jersey, Clark County is the nation’s 14th largest county and provides extensive regional services to more than 2 million citizens and 40 million visitors a year. Although there are numerous worthwhile sources of information about the Las Vegas area, one of the best I’ve found that can be useful for both visitors and residents can be found at the Clark County Government web site at http://www.clarkcountynv.gov/. You can find information about services, departments, parks & recreation, outdoor attractions, a shooting park, marriage licenses and more including links to local chambers of commerce and information about shopping venues, golfing and much much more.

Allergy Sufferers Take Note
Thursday June 2, 2011 by admin.
I’m usually don’t give not information which might discourage anyone from visiting Las Vegas even if it’s only for a short time or a given season but I thought that the following information might be useful to some of you. A national allergy study recently ranked Las Vegas as the second-worst city of 30 metropolitan areas in the United States (behind only Phoenix) for ragweed allergies. Also in March, Pollen.com ranked Las Vegas the worst city for spring allergies because of the large amounts of mulberry, ash, and juniper in the air. It’s now illegal to plant new mulberry bushes in Las Vegas. I hope this information helps someone plan a more enjoyable trip to Las Vegas.

Kids in Vegas
Thursday April 21, 2011 by admin.
Although children (under 21 years of age) can find lots of things to do and are always welcome in Las Vegas, here’s a few things everyone should know:
The legal age for drinking and gambling in Las Vegas is 21.
Those under 21 can walk directly through a casino to or from non-casino areas but they are not allowed to linger.
On weekdays no one under 18 can be in a public place between 10 pm and 5 am unless accompanied by an adult or guardian. On weekends, school holidays and during summer vacation the hours are midnight to 5 am.
